DeepBlue comments: Using a reactor allow much better utilisation of the media, as it moves the media around the reactor giving it more surface area of the media to be in-contact to the aquarium water. Also with media like bio pellet it works much better when you have it in a reactor. The sum up since you buying rather expensive po4 remover/bio pellet why not make the most of it and utilise it in a reactor.
